Nestled on Spain’s Mediterranean coastline, there’s plenty to see and do in the beautiful city of Barcelona — and you don’t have to wait till summer 2017 to visit. Visiting during winter is a great option, helping you to see some of the sites you would otherwise miss in the Spanish summertime.
Here are the three reasons why you should pay the capital of Catalonia a visit this winter.
If you’re something of a sun worshipper, you may not agree with our first point. However, visiting Barcelona in the winter is a great option as temperatures are usually between 10 and 13 degrees between November and February.
While this may seem a little cool, those who have explored the city in June, July and August, when temperatures are between 20 and 24 degrees, will agree that cooler weather is sometimes better for exploring the city. You can stay comfortable as you explore the city’s many sites.
Pack a jacket to combat the chill, especially when day turns to night. Take a look at House of Fraser’s range of women’s and men’s coats to find the perfect option for your trip.
Planning on visiting Barcelona before Christmas? You’ve timed it well, as you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Santa Llúcia Christmas fair. With plenty of festive stalls pitched around the cathedral, there are plenty of opportunities to pick up some unusual Christmas gifts or festive holiday souvenirs.
While you’re there, don’t forget to pop round the corner to pay a visit to the life-size nativity scene and take in the city’s magnificent Christmas decorations.
Reduce queuing times
In summer, you’ll likely spend a lot of time queuing with hundreds of tourists to visit Barcelona’s many attractions. In winter, as tourist levels dip, you’ll often find there are less queues to conquer.
Whether you’re visiting Camp Nou, home of Barcelona FC, or Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, winter is a great time to cut down on the waiting and make the most of the time you have in this magnificent city.
